Personal injury

The firm's prominent position in the shipping industry and insurance markets and its reputation for handling casualty claims has inevitably led to Bentleys providing advice in cases involving personal injury and death. Often this arises from marine casualties in which we are instructed but we have experience of handling personal injury cases throughout the marine sector and involving all types of vessels including bulk carriers, container vessels, ferries and cruise ships, fishing vessels, offshore installations, supply vessels and super yachts.

The majority of our instructions are received from P&I Clubs and ship owners in which we defend their interests in a wide variety of claims from stevedores, passengers and crew both shore-based and at sea. We have also acted on behalf of worldwide cruise operators and international terminal operators.

We have particular expertise in catastrophic injury, amputation and brain trauma cases however we are also instructed in asbestos-related disease matters and claims arising from other long and short-tail occupational illnesses.

This element of the firm's expertise enables Bentleys to provide a comprehensive casualty and claims service to our national and international clients with our trademark efficiency and straight-forward approach remaining a priority. We have also developed a reliable network of specialist Counsel and foreign lawyers in this area with whom we work closely when resolving personal injury cases for our clients.

Please contact our Personal Injury Manager, Rachel Butlin, if you would like to discuss this further and please note below the names and links to other members of our team who can also help.
